INFAMOUS THE MUSICAL

Is an original work by playwright David Owen Michaels.

This work explores the historical events that led to the assassination of Abraham Lincoln through the eyes of his assassin, John Wilkes Booth, and the persecution that gripped the nation for the 12 days that immediately followed. Michaels uses a wide range in his musical composition, along with beautifully crafted lyrics that really encapsulate the feel of the time. This work is already available for readings, workshops and productions. INFAMOUS is a new musical conceived for the theater stage.
We are looking for a community of followers who, like us, are theater lovers and want to spread the word so INFAMOUS can reach its destined heights.

A story that spans American history in this way is worth interpreting and reliving in this divisive time. The death of Abraham Lincoln from the perspective of his murderer, John Wilkes Booth, and the introspective examination of these two polarizing figures are sure to leave audiences stunned with emotion.

Coming Home

The opening number to the show. Soldiers arrive home to the joyous delight of their families.
Abraham Lincoln and General Grant make public appearances, and John Wilkes Booth makes his defiant entrance.

Laura Keane

The cast of “Our American Cousin” ( The show the Lincoln’s will attend the following evening)
poke fun at their fellow cast member and Director, Laura Keane in this comedic number.

Springfield

Abraham and Mary Lincoln are on the carriage ride to Ford’s Theater as they reminisce about the past,
how their lives have changed since the loss of their son, Willy, and the toll the war years have taken. They sing of a brighter future together.

Sic Semper Tyrannis

After assassinating Abraham Lincoln, John Wilkes Booth jumps to the stage and shouts “Sic Semper Tyrannis”
which is Latin for “Thus Always to Tyrants”. It is also the State motto of Virginia.

Is a Cleveland born playwright, musician and teacher. He studied Musical Theater at Ohio Northern University under Directors Nils Reiss, Katriona McPhee and Robert Behrens from 2003-2005.

David is currently the Theater/Orchestra Director of Cuyahoga Heights High School and Middle School. He has served as Director for such shows as Grease, All Shook Up, The Jungle Book and Aladdin Jr. He has also served as the Orchestra Director for several local shows including most recently, Avenue Q. David lives in Fairview Park, Ohio with his wife, Adriana, and daughter, Madeline. David can be found playing solo piano in Cleveland’s Little Italy neighborhood on Friday and Saturday nights.

INFAMOUS THE MUSICAL

Infamous the musical is a retelling of our country’s dark past in the light of the present.   It is through examining this tragic history through a different lens that we highlight the divisions of yesterday while drawing stark parallels to our present time.

 «Infamous the Musical» is a new original musical that portrays the chaotic events leading toward Abraham Lincoln’s Assassination and the subsequent manhunt for his killer, John Wilkes Booth.
